Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hard surfaces

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his initial championship for 882 days with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition championship match.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a difficult period, managing just one match at the big events and experiencing a meltdown at the American major.

Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serving in especial - resulted in him exiting of the elite rankings and eventually splitting with former trainer Cervara.

Presently working with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily progressed in the past month - peaking in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This marks his maiden championship following the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard court after spring of the previous year.

Success also indicates he has won twenty-one titles at twenty-one distinct events.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a tournament with my two daughters together, so to get a title is really nice," commented world number 14 the champion.

"This title is in honour of my child her name, because the first title I got when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had lost his previous six championship matches, featuring in Halle in the past months.

The player's counter-punching play style and recurring reactions on the tennis court had caused observers to doubt if his skill to play at the highest level was finished.

But the 29-year-old has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to approach the net and play positively, backed up by an improved serve.

The champion recovered from a break down in the first set against the challenging opponent, winning 4 of the last five exchanges to take the lead.

The pair swapped break points in the middle set before Moutet, attempting for his initial professional victory, gained dominance to force a final set.

The opponent saved 4 initial break points in a close third set before the champion won the break to 15 to close out the victory.

Appropriately, the winner secured the win with a point at the front of the court, with his opponent failing to control a return after a lengthy match.
